City International School Kothrud has been associated with Srujan Pratishthan, a social organisation working for children experiencing learning difficulties. Srujan Pratishthan aims at building awareness about ‘Learning Difficulties among school-going children’ and ‘their Emotional Wellbeing & Mental Health, and their parents’ as well’.

Mostly the students from the Primary section are benefitting under the Ability Enhancement Program (AEP). Through this program, Srujan helped us create awareness among the teachers and parents that helped the key stakeholders to understand the need and importance of this program and the positive impact it creates in the academic abilities as well as the emotional wellbeing of the children. After receiving parents’ consent, identified children were assessed and reports were explained to their parents. Assessments also helped prepare an Individualised Education Plan (IEP) for each enrolled child with respect to specific goals and strategies.

Through this program, every child undergoes 2-3 AEP sessions per week, wherein emphasis is given on strengthening pre-skills, reading, writing, mathematics, cognitive abilities, learning readiness, and socio-emotional well-being using engaging, multi-sensory Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs). Srujan Pratishthan also conducts individual counselling of the enrolled child as well as his/her parents in order to enhance their Emotional Wellbeing & Mental Health.

Year-end assessments are conducted at the end of each academic year to measure the progress of the child, compare with the baseline & plan further support for the child’s continued development. This program has received a great response and positive feedback from parents.
